History
When and how.

Saint Teresa’s Parish in Etobicoke was established in 1924 in order to provide a pastoral care for the local Catholics. Soon after, Irish immigrants found this church to be their spiritual home. Other ethnic groups have followed and therefore, the parish is a mosaic of a Canadian multiculturalism. It is a place where people of all age groups and cultural backgrounds gather to celebrate the Eucharist. We currently have a large Polish community thus Eucharists are celebrated in English as well as in Polish languages.

Our parish provides various pastoral and sacramental ministries such as: preparations for sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation,  services for the elderly at Lakeshore Lodge, a ministry for children and youth at Holy Trinity Elementary School, Fr. John Redmond High School, and a Polish heritage school which offers language classes to elementary school children at Saint Josaphat School. Our parish offers a Christian formation through the neocatechumenate.  It is a home to the following groups: scouts, a dancing group “Podhale”, children choir “Oasis”, musical band “Gethsemane” and a Filipino choir.

The latest renovation of the interior building was done in late 1990’s as a testimony of faith and dedication of the growing number of parishioners. A new stained glass windows altar in the form of a triptych was designed to depict the themes of Jesus’ Last Supper, Death, and Resurrection.

In 2002 the pastoral care of Saint Teresa’s Parish was entrusted to the Michaelite Fathers. Fr. Dariusz Lewandowski CSMA, the present pastor, and Fr. Jan Burczyk CSMA, his associate, serve over 2000 families who make this parish a growing and thriving community through the intersession of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, the patron of our church.

St Teresa

O my God! I offer Thee all my actions of this day for the intentions and for the glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I desire to sanctify every beat of my heart, my every thought, my simplest works, by uniting them to Its infinite merits; and I wish to make reparation for my sins by casting them into the furnace of Its Merciful Love. I ask of Thee for myself and for those whom I hold dear, the grace to fulfill perfectly Thy Holy Will, to accept for love of Thee the joys and sorrows of this passing life, so that we may one day be united together in heaven for all Eternity. Amen.

St Michael

Saint Michael the Archangel
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Work and temperance are not acquired easily. In order to avoid being overcome in battle we must rigorously control our body and all its natural inclinations, like a coachman holds on tightly to an untamed horse so that they both do not end up on the brink.

Our Parish

Saint Teresa Parish brings together more than 2,000 families. It is a community of different races, nationalities and cultures; where Mass is celebrated daily in two languages: English and Polish.
